He grew up in Wilton, Connecticut, the youngest of three sons. He is particularly close with his oldest brother, who has been severely disabled since birth. John was once a serious athlete: all-state football player, and a member of a perennial state champion lacrosse team. His closest teammates are still friends and still gather on the Cape every summer.
John's BA in Economics and Finance from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania turned him into a dedicated, long-term investor as a very young man. A 30-year career with Federal Express allowed him to live in some of America’s most beautiful places, from Colorado to Texas to Hilton Head. His passions today are international travel and Renaissance art.
John is motivated to preserve what makes Cape Cod so unique by respect and gratitude for those who worked to do it for us. He's grateful to all those he works side-by-side with, and everyone who has voted him into leadership over the years. It's given him the chance to do things that matter.
He was elected early to local leadership, dealing with the issues most impacting our Cape Cod communities. For the past 10 years, as President of the Osterville Village Association, John has successfully collaborated with his civic counterparts in Barnstable on housing for locals, crime prevention and quality of life issues in all our villages.
John has championed deliberate growth that respects the Cape’s unique character and environment as we move forward to meet the evolving needs of our resident and business communities.
John is especially proud of his work with the Town of Barnstable and local citizens on redeveloping the former West Bay Elementary property. Newly refurbished ballfields and tennis courts are soon to be followed by a children’s playground and restroom facilities – bringing families and visitors to the community.
